And you didn't mention that damages were then increased, under a theory 
of punitive damages, to more than ten times the initial unreduced 
amount, and then scaled back by the judge to a total of more than three 
times the unreduced amount:

Compensatory damages: $200,000
Less 20% for partial negligence= $160,000
Plus punitives awarded by the jury= $2,860,000
After reduction by the judge: $640,000

Final settlement for an undisclosed amount believed to be less than 
$600,000.
