You probably have, especially if you read Jack Vance.

In his short "Hard Luck Diggings", Magnus Ridolph rebukes a baddie for
violating a law iro "the treatment of friendly autochthones" on the planet
where he is working. That one is about as old as I am, having appeared in
_Startling Sotries_ in July 1948.
