I hope this is the right group for this question, since it is at least
somewhat sci-fi related.
I'm trying to find a movie I remember seeing on TV when I was a kid,
many years ago.
I think the movie is from the sixties, or even the fifties, but I
can't remember if it's in black and white. I'm pretty sure it's
American.
It is a comedy about a man who's training to be an astronaut. He's
very naive and oblivious to the fact that one of his fellow astronauts
is diligently trying to sabotage his training.
In the course of the training they are subjected to all kinds of
tests, like the sentrifuge and such.
I particularly remember a scene where the protagonist is placed in a
chamber where the temperature can be regulated, from extremely hot to
extremely cold. He is completely oblivious to the temperature changes,
and passes the time by reading the paper (which promptly catches fire)
and attempting to drink coffe (which immediately freezes solid as he
pours it out of his thermos).
That's pretty much all I remember. Can anyone point me in the right
direction?
(I'm pretty sure it isn't "The reluctant astronaut" with Don Knotts,
but not 100 %)
