Yep.  Signing actors for multiple films is routine, but it's no 
guarantee that there actually will BE multiple films.

The director of THE ROCKETEER was signed for 3 of that series.  He was 
asked by a reporter if he was looking forward to the other 2 if the 
first was a hit, and he said, to a reporter, on the set, for the record, 
that he'd fake his own death before he'd work for Katzenberg again.
