We have no real idea what the storyline of the movie is yet. The above
is not "spoiler", it's speculation and rumour.

Star Trek is not meant to be "Lost in Space".   ;-)

The first season was a "hit". Like Cloverfield, Lost was overly hyped
beforehand as being "fresh", "unique", etc. so lots of people tuned in
to see what all the fuss was about - many of them then tuned out again
before the end of season one. Viewership has dropped with each season
because of the slowness of getting any answers and many people getting
tired of all the jumping around and simply being confused.

We don't know whether or not Pike is a "major focus" of the movie. We
only know that an actor has been hired to play the role - it could be
two minutes it could be two hours.
