No idea if I have to follow all your restrictions. I am pretty sure
that there is no such film. However, if I eliminate the Elisha Cook
Jr. requirement it sounds a lot like THE CREATION OF THE HUMANOIDS.

In the end it turns out that
we have been looking at a previous human race and that our human race
is made up of reproducing humanoids.
