You have no imagination.  For the eco-nuts (not the ones who want
recycling, not the ones who want the clean air, water, food) - I am
talking about the ones who seem to have a hatred for their fellow
humans and hate any technology more recent than 1900.

These are the people who should be put on an island and just left
there to try and live the life that they always seem to endorse that
everyone else should live, but somehow never seem to be living
themselves.

Give them basic blacksmithing tools and the land.  Blockade them from
leaving or getting outside help and let them see what life was really
like for most people pre-1800s.  Let them try a vegan diet without
modern tech, let them find out the joys of using animals (horse, oxen)
for power and transportation.  There is a reason why we developed the
tech that we use today.
