I haven't watched the film yet.  I hope to tonight.

I was really curious about all this black & white-version hype I've 
been reading (and also posted some here myself).  So I did watch the 
intro to the b&w version by the director last night.  It last about 3 
1/2 minutes and was also in this "b&w".

This is *nothing* like any b&w film I have ever seen before.

It is incredible *sharp*.  In addition, the blacks are truly *black* 
and the whites are truly *white*.

I haven't been stunned by a digital visual effect for quite some 
time.  I was with this.   It was -- *wow*

I wrote a short time ago a email to some friends that *this* black & 
white is "hyper-real".  A good meaning for that term would be an 
"unreal documentary feeling".

I don't have a HDTV.  I'm almost glad I don't to watch the b&w 
version of THE MIST the first time.

I am willing to bet the H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival this year will 
do its damnest to show the b&w version on the big screen.
