How many versions of Bond might there have been if the Connery character

Bond had
been enforced as a franchise? It would have become a spoof of itself
anyway.
Moore brought something different to the Bond run, which it needed. 
Lightweight? Certainly.
Entertaining? Yes, for a while.
The whole concept was juvenile, and once it had lost it's freshness, it 
should have been quietly
dropped. Like Lethal Weapon, and Die Hard, and all those stupid Seagal 
movies.
