I'm just jumping in here since I don't have time yet to read the other
45 messages in this thread - so someone else may have already
mentioned these things - but actually the ''classic'' logo was that
there /was/ no regular logo... each story had The Spirit on the splash
page lettered in some way relating to the story or a /part/ of the
scene... the ''classic'' logo you probably refer to didn't come around
until maybe the Warren or Kirchen Sink reprints... which /were/ mostly
in black and white.

I remember early Miller Daredevil that reminded me a lot of Eisner at
