A serendipitous result of Marvel's profligacy?  They sold their
movie rights to all and sundry: Sony for Spider-Man and X-Men,
Fox for the Fantastic Four, Paramount for Iron Man, and Universal
bringing out the Hulk this same summer.
Would any one studio -- even WB, owner and operator of DC -- try
for five superhero franchises?  Would they bring out even Metal
Men the same year as one of their Superman or Batman movies?
