Sooner or later - and I'm betting on sooner - someone will work out that 
making 19th-early 20th century buildings fit for the 21st is actually a 
conservation issue. Windmills and solar panels don't affect the fabric 
of the house, and make it more, not less likely that someone will care 
for the otherwise expensive-to-maintain heap of bricks.

I give it three or four years before all planning restrictions on 
domestic microgeneration are dumped.
