Well, that was Manny's hypothesis.  I'm not sure it was really
established.  Of course, he repeated much the same thing in tNotB.

What's the "it" here?   The only seemingly-appropriate "it" seems
to be "large enough computer will AI-ize itself automagically".
But Penrose seems to think that's NOT the case.
Unless I've missed something.
