Re: anachronisms?

Since everyone here has already talked about computers and navigating,
I think I'll start with something else.  Of course, the problem is
that technology advances far quicker than any of us will ever be able
to predict.

Nanotechnology: while it's not the miracle worker some people make it
out to be, I think there's some potential in using it to fight
diseases like cancer or possibly even AIDs.  It could be very useful
in removing tumors: inject some nanobots and they could eat the
cancerous cells like Pac-Man.  Of course, that idea probably has many
flaws, but it's fun to think about.

The Swiss Army Knife is always useful, so some sort of futuristic
version would be appreciated.  Perhaps it could be built straight into
the suit.
