That's why I'm asking -- I can't see the story going anywhere if he
stays at the hospital, but it doesn't seem perfectly natural for him
to leave fairly quickly. 

So far, it seems like most responders are focusing on what they'll do
outside, which makes me think that the usual reaction is to do a quick
shuffle through and then head out.

Now I just have to convince myself that that is the 'normal' reaction.
