Does that matter ?

You're having an EXTREMELY unlikely situation, something hardly within 
the bounds of known physics.

Why would it at this point in any way stretch the suspension of 
disbelief if your protagonist does something which in real life perhaps 
only a minority of people would actually do ?

I'm sure -some- people would leave the hospital in the first hour if put 
in such a situation. It's plausible enough that if that's what your 
story requires, then that's fine.

I'm not convinced the -majority- would, but honestly, why does that matter
?
