After this initial investigation I would assume it was some sort of
disease, and that I must have been found and brought in before it
spread so far that nobody was left awake to drive the ambulances and
such. I might think to check my temperature and pulse and other
basics.

On the gurney my first thoughts would be that I had some sort of
seizure, been in an accident, or been drugged, and was brought to the
hospital and just don't remember it. I probably wouldn't immediately
notice that I'm not hooked up to an IV though.

First I'd go to the hospital lounge and see if there's anything on the
TV news. Whatever the outcome of that, I'd get out of the hospital and
wander off in a familiar direction to see what's going on outside;
perhaps I'm in a quarantine zone of some sort. Are there birds in the
sky and dogs in the street? Are there people sprawled in the streets
just around the corner? Anything else out of the ordinary? I'd want to
know that.

Eventually I'd go home.

To prevent falling asleep, or to prevent oversleeping by a day? The
usual stuff people do to keep themselves awake, if the former. If I'm
convinced it's some sort of disease, I wouldn't worry about it too
much because evidently I have some sort of immunity.
