Following that premise, it would also be worth moving another person
to sleep in the same spot. More than 1 person awake is needed to do
controlled experiments.
However, there doesn't seem to be a way to replicate any of the other
things done the previous day and also, it is possible (from the
perspective of the non-sleeping person) that the effect was caused by
a disease and thus moving a test subject into the safe room would
cause spread the disease to that room.
Another option would be to move the test subject to a similar room and
hope for the best.
