I don't think they're psychology experiments, or if they are they aren't 
being done with a particularly rigorous protocol. I think more likely he 
just comes up with an idea that strikes him as clever, goes to this 
newsgroup to show it off, and then gets defensive when people poke holes 
in it because he believes we're attacking his initial perception of 
cleverness.

I think Wildepad would have a much better time of things if he 
approached these situations from the other way around. Instead of asking 
"what would you do in contrived situation X?" he should ask "how would 
you go about contriving situation X?". Or at the very least, he should 
be willing to allow his clever idea to be modified. There's no shame in 
it, it's what brainstorming is all about.

The thing that keeps hooking me is that I'm interested in the sort of 
thread he _tries_ to start, but very annoyed by the sort of thread they 
keep turning into. I like tinkering with hypothetical scenarios.
