Yes.

But are unpredictable flares realy so much worse than unpredictable
weather?

44 a. u. at periapsis, 124 a. u. at apoapsis.

Which means that it has about 15 times the luminosity of full moon at
periapsis and 2 times the luminosity of full moon at apoapsis.
