I suppose I am not the intended audience :) but my biggest impresison
from "Life After People" (I never saw "Aftermath") is how POINTLESS
nature without humans is. Just an endless cycle of eating, mating,
breeding and dying, for hundreds of millions of years, with no concept
of past or future, until the Sun expands and everything comes to an
inglorious and unlamented -- because there is no one to lament, --
end.

To me LAP was probably the most convincing argument that intelligence
in general and humans in particular are Gaia's way to spread itself
through universe. Not that I needed much convincing on that by now.
