The issue of astronavigation is entirely realistic, on the other hand, 
and presumably on topic for sci.astro. The context is hypothetical, but 
responding to a hypothetical question such as "if I could fly through 
space how would I navigate?" with "you can't fly through space" is 
rather pointless.
