He should go back into standby when the door closes. Until the little

light hits his eyes again.
after the door closes, it will take a while to go back to standby, but 
without stimulus, he should be standing there on Judgement Day.

Good Guys on any action show or movie have incredible, I say incredible 
healing powers.
Hell, any human action hero can take a bullet the should rip an arm off
and 
leave ribs spattered all across the landscape and keep on fighting. Then 
maybe have a stylish little sling at the end of the show. Or not.
Have someone hit you in the face with a two by four sometime and see how 
quick you get back up. Or even a hardback book.
