It wasn't their intent to bring Tapping on for only one season.
When her contract for SG-1 came up for renewal at the end of
Season 9, she was signed on for 2 years. But SG-1 went only one
more year, so her transfer to SGA was to fulfill the rest of
that contract. They'd previously indicated that they wanted her
back for Season 5. The reason she declined is that she felt she
could not commit to SGA in addition to her role as star and EP
of her new series SANCTUARY.
