"The Wonder Years" was a kid's show?

I think not.  It actually fit the sort of audience that would also
watch "China Beach"

After all, they were both set in the sixties, which is why they both
used about the same sort of music.

So you watched "The Wonder Years" because it was like your childhood,
and set right in the same time period.  You watched "China Beach" because
growing up there never was a time when the Viet Nam war was not in the
news.  When Saigon finally fell in May of 1975, it was an end to something
that had been going on forever.
