That's been one of the primary problems with SGA from the start: The 
cast has never really gelled, and, as a result, there have been 
significant cast changes from year to year (starting with the 
Wraith-ization of Ford).

Unfortunately, it always seems to be the most interesting and underused 
cast members that get the boot (Ford, Beckett - I'm not sure that 
applies to Weir, though). The more annoying and uninteresting cast 
members (Sheppard, Teyla) are unflushables.
