Sheppard reminds me too much of Mitchell. In fact in the episode "The 
Pegasus Project" it was difficult to tell them apart character wise.

I think you are spot on though that it takes 2-3 Seasons for the actors to

really let their characters settle down. Watching the first season of SG1 
was a bit like watching the Woodentops, especially Amanda Tapping who
looked 
like she was made of solid oak.

I liked Higginson as Weir, I think she was the ideal character to play
that 
role. Problem is at the moment, we keep noticing that Amanda Tapping isn't

on screen, yet there were plenty of episodes where Higginson wasn't around

either, but you don't notice it so much.
