Well, the Gou'ld didn't know how anything worked. They mostly just found 
Ancient stuff and used it, which is probably why anybody anywhere can jump

in any ****p and fly it like an ace. They were completely stagnant. They
use 
the same weapons and tech they were using 5000 years ago. They didn't even

change their style of dress.
I suppose it's as realistic as there being a Stargte at all, but...
