I don't follow. If he needs the work, wouldn't he accept the role no
matter what length it was intended for? And if he has enough pull to
refuse the work for being too short, he probably costs enough that he
would be a burden to the budget of a new show.
Personally, I like him, and I hope he stays. I just don't understand
how your comment would indicate he is or isn't a throw away character.
