There have been a lot of hints on Smallville that it's more than just
luck.
*There's the fictionalized native american prophecy of Naman and Sageeth,
where Lex (Sageeth) is destined to be killed by Clark (Naman), and no one
else.
*There's the low white blood cell count, which indicates that Lex isn't
completely normal.
*There's the episode where he goes up in an airplane with his ex-wife
Helen-Bryce and he seems confident that she can't kill him. And then
there's
the episode where he tells Clark that he thought that the reason why he
never died was because Clark saved him, but then he started to realize
that
he's a freak, and that he doesn't need Clark to save him. I think it's the
last episode with Helen-Bryce.
*And there's the episode where he is poisoned by his father, after which
he
tells his father "don't wound what you can't kill dad".
The fact that Lex is destined to be killed by Superman has also been
hinted
out in the series Justice League Unlimited. There's several episodes
concerning what would happen, in an alternate universe, if Superman killed
Lex.
Most of this has already been discussed before in this newsgroup several
times.
