Or she could have simply chosen to stay behind when there was no more
room, 
or been blackmailed. Or given the show, someone could have been forced
into 
choosing someone to stay and someone to leave: Claire OR her baby. Claire 
volunteers to stay so baby could leave--so Aaron could get away from the 
"Rescuers".
