Well, I thought the producers had hinted at that somewhere, but now I
can't find it. Nobody else seems to have encountered it.

So maybe you are right:

It fits the facts as we know them, but unless I can remember where I got
it from, you may be right.

If they are taken from the freighter to the mainland, then they have to
explain how they were rescued from an island that does not exist by a
freighter that was nowhere near the crash site on a mission that nobody
is willing to talk about.

If they are taken to another island near the crash site, and somebody
else "finds" them, then all that needs to be explained is why it took so
long to find them.

All we have to go by is Jack's testimony. He claimed that the airliner
crashed on an island and the survivors landed in the water. In order for
the invented story to be believable, any parts of it that are verifiable
must be true. That leads me to believe that they were found on an island
near the official crash site by a boat other than the freighter. In his
testimony he says, "She tried to save the other two," which suggests
that it is common knowledge (whether true or not) that the official
story includes two others besides the Oceanic 6.

One thing that may be confusing is my choice of past tense. We are
dealing with different time frames in the show right now. I am
speculating that they "were" taken to another island in flash forward
time, but that they "will be" taken to another island in current island
time.

Now, if I can remember where I got that from. I thought for sure I read
it from a possibly reliable source.
