But if it comes up later, it can used as an explanation for
what has already transpired. I had them being stuck in a
time loop to explain the improbability of surviving the crash:
they crashed billions of times and walked away once.

This is one reason why I don't think insider comments about
the show should be considered part of the text that is being
analyzed.
