This is more Skiffy than anything like Clarkian Science Fiction.
This is more like Original Star Trek Fantasy Themes.
Anything goes here.
And when anything goes, when anything is allowed, there are no
constraints to come back to later and complain that something is being
inconsistent.

They are laying the foundation that since anything goes,
No complaints can be made that something doesn't make sense.
