They will predictably claim that it isn't "time travel" if it doesn't
involve an actual body moving through time.  Which is preposterous;
the troublesome aspects of time travel come into play the moment one
conveys any sort of *information* from the (relative) future to the
past.  Such as memories.

I think these people may seriously believe that SCIENCE! can do ANYTHING!.
Hey, look at EINSTEIN, man!  And HAWKING and QUANTUM MECHANICS and all
that stuff!  And none of it is fiction!  It's SCIENCE!

They aren't lying to us.  They are merely ignorant.  They believe that
fictional stories about fictional science aren't science fiction unless
they involve fictional *future* science or fictional *extraterrestrial*
science.  Rockets and Rayguns stuff.  When in fact the term and the
genre has always encompassed stories about contem****ary scientists
discovering or inventing something amazing and thus setting in motion
interesting events.

And they fail to recognize that things like "electromagnetic anomalies",
techno-psychic time travel, magic numbers and the impossible web of
conspiracy and coincidence tying all this together, are just as far
out on the wierd-ometer, just as scientifically ridiculous and just
as solidly in the real of science fiction, as the bit wher Doctor
Zarkov builds a warp-drive star****p in his garage and flys off to
Planet Mongo.

Heck, that would be *more* plausible, on account of we can make it
happen with only *one* bit of high wierdness, one impossible thing
to believe before breakfast.  But the space****p would make people
point at that story and say, "Science Fiction!", whereas the absence
of a space****p on _Lost_ makes them miss that fact.
