What makes you think it wasn't a "duh" renewal? It's ratings are
laughable compared to the other networks, but it's actually doing
remarkably well given that it's up against the two top-rated
dramas on TV. And the CW knows it. They have nothing else that
would do better in that timeslot. Well, maybe TOP MODEL, but
putting that show in that slot would do more damage to it than
help the network in that slot.

Where did you hear that? There are some shows on other networks
that are getting only 13-ep pickups for the fall, but those are
freshman shows from this season.
I've seen nothing to indicate that these CW shows aren't getting
full 22-episode renewals.
