I was thinking more along the lines of Cameron bearing a child that is
a cyborg at 'birth' - not necessarily in the usual manner (i.e. by
having a 'human' womb/ovaries). A seamless integration of flesh and
machine (perhaps via nantotechnology)? Maybe that's a bit too advanced
for the (two) time period(s) in which the series takes place but I
think it would be pretty cool.

I like that idea. I've also seen it suggested that Skynet, in it's
quest to create ever more advanced Terminators in the war against
humanity, could make the fundamental error of creating machines that
are just too powerful to control - Terminators with the processing
power and potential to become intelligent/self aware in their own
right, think for themselves and begin to question their purpose - and
their orders.

Skynet wouldn't like that. The Terminators wouldn't like Skynet not
liking that.

Another thought. 

John and Cameron have a child. 

The child is Skynet.
