No, he didn't.  Amsterdam lipread the confession.  That makes the entire 
legal case about a cop getting on the stand and saying 'I could tell by
his 
lips movements from 20 yards away that he was confession to the murder. 
Even if he heard a clear confession, it doesn't make for a good legal
case. 
Why do you think the cops have people write out their confession and sign 
it?
