Good point, since the problem doesn't start until the second
trimester. Seems like if it were just the island amping up the immune
system, the women would have miscarriages right away, in the first
trimester.

I also don't see how it could be related to the growth issue the
producers mentioned--they said there are growth issues related to
going on and off the island. But if that were causing pregnancy
problems, then it would be more of a problem if the mother conceived
off island and came to the island, or conceived on-island and left the
island. Ben would not allow Juliet to send any pregnant women off the
island to find out what happened, but if it were an on-island/off-
island issue, then staying on the island the whole pregnancy ought to
work yet doesn't.
