Absolutely. Don't know why I left that out. Shock and awe.
Though they were more help to the Spanish in the more open south than the 
English, Dutch and French in the hard to get around in Northeast. (The 
Conquistadores didn't walk into the thick jungle much, either.)
Once they got some roads cleared, though...
I've never understood why buffalo were never domesticated. It can be done.

There was a guy that made a pretty good living racing his buffalo against 
horses. I know a crazy horse breaker that has a couple that he keeps in a 
pen and follow him around like dogs. Virtually every other culture in the 
world had work animals. They used the Llamas in South America. They can't 
carry any more than a strong man, but they were a big help. Cortez and 
Pizzaro may have come in with a little more reasonable attitude if they
were 
met by a bunch of guys on critters that could toss their little horses
like 
a frisbee, and no stupid man/beast/god misconceptions. "I come in peace"
may 
have crossed their minds.
Once the idea caught on in the buff's natural range, it would have spread
at 
least as fast as the horse did.
Of course, I don't understand how, in all the course of human evolution,
the 
America's never produced a single person that could see a rock roll down a

hill and make the obvious connection.
