Bet the first weren't very easy. Horses are pretty easy because they've
been 
domesticated for so many generations. I work with Mustangs a lot, and they

are in some ways easier than pasture bred horses, because they're
descended 
from domesticated stock, with the 'eager to please' trait always being
bred 
for. And nobody's taught them bad habits until they're caught. Same with 
dogs. Somebody had to catch a wolf and tame it to start the whole thing 
rolling. Indians had dogs.
There isn't much difference between the Cape Buffalo, about the meanest 
thing on four wheels, and the water buffalo that the little Asian kids
jump 
on and ride out to feed every day.
A llama is a pretty mean, obnoxious animal, too. Like all camels, I guess.
Hard work and perseverance has been a pretty common and necesary trait in 
humans until just recently.
