Oddhobby Notes On Usenet: TV Shows To Keep Shows To Keep

Oddhobby (supplemental) Shows To Keep
Burn notice
I love this show. Nice look, excellent casting, very well done.

Reaper
Very good casting, and I like where it's going. Retail is a worse
hell than is ****trayed, but no points off, it's done well.

Pu****ng Daisies
Extraordinary show. Best writing, best photography, best everything.
A rare style for TV and I'm surprised to see it on broadcast TV and
not Showtime or HBO.

Dirt
I don't understand why I like this: I couldn't care less about real
life celebs and I think the paparazzi are jerks. I'm also not a big
fan of Courteney Cox and I'm one of the few people that think making
light of the mentally ill is completely wrong (although I don't think
they've actually done anything disrespectful--so maybe I'm just being
overly sensitive--I hate when I do that). In spite of all that, this
show has captured my interest.

The Unit
CBS has had some very "realistic" government shows. I really liked
the Agency, it wasn't as realistic as it could have been, but it was
intriguing. Also see, Jericho. The Unit may not return, from what I
understand. It reminds me of the old Mission Impossible show.

Jerico
Jericho is a conspiracy theory brought to life. It's always amazing
to see political fiction that tries to keep itself rooted in logic,
and uses plausible scenarios to sup****t the conspiracy. However, I
did see one flaw I did see this season. They didn't confiscate
weapons. They want to register businesses and control the economy,
but the first step in fascism is to confiscate the weapons and kill
the old leaders. BTW, my dad decoded the Morse code, and it was an
AOL commercial.

Rules of Engagement
Very funny, this is like the comfort food of comedy shows. No, it's
not as good as everybody loves Raymond or Seinfeld but I've enjoyed
every show and Warburton's delivery is always on target. I think the
show is limited by only having 3 memorable characters (the young
couple is not bad, they're just not as 'whole' as the other 3)

And of course,

Psych, My Name is Earl, 24, Medium, Smallville, House,

Big Love
This show really hooked me on a couple of different levels. It
deserves a full review, there's so much to it... it's one of my personal
faves, although I must say I'm not sure I like what they're doing to
the Margene character.

The Wire,
RIP. I agree, time to end it. There's only so much I can watch
without wanting to move to Baltimore, run for office and try to help
clean up that mess. It's also depressing to know that that same
condition exists in LA, Chicago, New York and other cities. I just
don't understand why this show didn't get the same recognition as the
Sopranos. Then again, maybe I do.

There's also a number of shows on the BBC, more on those later?
