Well, you know, if they'd done it only once that might be reasonable.  But
they've not only done it more than once they've done it without the mirror
per your 20 Carters.  And getting back to the original topic, Rodney
probably
knows all this.  The best fit I see is something like the Sliders
multiverse
with many alternative realities that can still be specifically identified.
Perhaps new realities can come into existence through the paradox
prevention
mechanism of the Ancient time machine or other similar events, but
infinite
branching doesn't play well with what we have seen.
