We _have_ heard of The Beatles.  They're musicians from the olden days
who appeared on stock footage in The Chase.

I don't think that the plot of episode had anyone blowing their brains
out in a car.  Jumping off the Mary Celeste or being captured by
Mechanoids, yes.  Car-related suicides, no.
