The network geniuses at work again. Do they realize that some of the DVD 
recordings are made by people who watch the shows live and actually want
to 
save them to watch again?  And often, in the case of performance shows
like 
Idol or "Dancing with the Stars", someone just wants to watch one or two 
numbers.  With Lost, I would speculate that a lot of people who are really

into the show want to be able to go back and check on clues.

Which is at least part of the reason why Lost and American Idol get so
many 
DVR recordings, as opposed to say "Deal or No Deal".

I suppose in one sense it should count as a "% increase in viewing", since

it's like getting a rerun watched without the expense of airing it, but
also 
with a significant shrinkage in commercials watched.
