Could be. But it really comes down to the relevant studio's
priority.

And quite frankly, just as TRU CALLING immediately lept to
mind as a "truncated second season" that was released on DVD,
BOOMTOWN is the only example that leaps to mind of a "truncated
second season" that did *not* get released on DVD even though
the first season did.

To that matter, I'm hard pressed to think of many shows that
even *got* short second seasons like this.

Generally speaking, shows that not only get through an entire
first season, but get renewed for a second as well don't get
cancelled that quickly into the second season. It happens, but
it's rare. So I'm not sure there's enough data for a DVD
release pattern to reveal itself.

downloading a screener of the pilot prior to the show's debut.
