The writer of THE CORE was on some group I frequented when he was 
working on the movie.  Apparently he spent most of his time fighting 
with the producers about why the iron mole shouldn't have windows.  Sigh.

The original plot (or at least plot synopsis) of THE CORE was WAY worse 
than what got released.  Originally THE CORE went out, so the Earth 
stopped turning,* but nobody noticed except the shuttle astronauts (you 
can see remnants of that throughout the final movie) so they had to go 
fire it up to get the old girl spinning again.

Of course, if nobody NOTICED the Earth stopped spinning, why do they 
CARE?

I've seen a few brief moments on regular tv, with digitally added 
bikinis to the girls and such.  Didn't seem to be much point.
