It's worse than that.  It's like nobody on earth noticed that the ground 
beneath their feet had gone (relatively) from 0 to 1000 mph.

So if it happened over say a month, it would be like a giant hand was 
pu****ng everything on earth to the east with a force of the object's mass
x 
1 mph.  Apparent gravity would no longer pull straight down.

Well, it would make dusting a lot easier, since all the dust would collect

on the east wall of the room. (Except there wouldn't be a building
standing 
due to the earthquakes.  Oh well.)
