Have you thought about a fanfiction pickup?
Look how successful the Star Trek: New Voyages project has been. They
have won a TV Guide Award and are currently nominated for a Hugo Award.

Why can't the fans consider producing their own episodes? They might
have to blue-screen a lot of the backdrops rather than use actual sets,
but at least you would have a series.
