Before the show aired that was my concern, and it was only Dule' Hill's
presence that got me to watch the pilot.  They really don't overplay (or
depending on how you look at it completely overplay) the fake psychic act
enough that it doesn't get annoying.  There are enough people in on the
joke, including the viewers, that it really does come off as good comedy
instead of something you roll your eyes at.  The first few episodes it was
hit or miss at times, but by middle of first season they had found the
groove.
